Rose’s Story

Since 2011 we have repaired almost 100 boreholes. In 2021 alone we repaired 16, providing access to clean water for over 18,465 people.

Rose is a mother of eight from Bukude Village in Butaleja, whose life was changed for the good when the village borehole was repaired.

"On behalf of my fellow women, mothers and the entire community, I want to thank a little bit of HOPE for the support given to our community through fixing our borehole. When our borehole got broken, we used to suffer a lot by spending hours walking to the nearest borehole to access safe drinking water. Some of us could not walk this far and had to resort to using unsafe water for bathing, cooking, and drinking which increased cases of water-borne diseases, especially typhoid, itching of the body and diarrhoea. But now our borehole is functioning, we are so happy because we have access to safe and clean water and we no longer have to walk far to fetch water. We are happy for our children too, because they’re now able to spend more time studying and helping at home. May the Lord bless you abundantly. Thank you."
